Ramea Islands

Located 6 kilometers off the Southwest coast, Ramea is a very lively and high in culture (and accent!) outport community. The islands offer pristine paddling grounds with sheltered waters and carribean green underwater scenery. Many day and half day paddles are a stonethrow away from our Lodge, while the islands themselves offer great hiking terrain.

Grey River

Located about 10 miles east of Ramea, the community of Grey River sits at the mouth of a beautiful fjord. The lower part of the bay is surrounded by 1000' cliffs while the upper section branches into three arms, one of them leading to world class salmon fishing Grey River.

This day-trip you will let you experience a genuine outport adventure and feel the accomplishment of a good day's paddle.

White Bear Bay

Sometimes called 'God's Country' by the locals, White Bear Bay is litterally a small cabin community. A number of Ramea residents go 'up the bay' to go hunting, fishing and to get back to nature. The 12-mile long inlet is very rugged and scenic, with numerous waterfalls and unique wildlife sightings such as caribou and bald eagles.

We make this an overnight trip to Eastern Outdoors' cabin, accompanied by a support boat. Hike Jane's Hill, swim in Northwest Brook and enjoy the peacefulness of this very special place.

*This trip is very weather dependent

Burgeo

Burgeo is one of the biggest communities on the coast, making it the hub for goods and passenger transportation. It is also home to the Sandbanks provincial park which offers 7 kilometers of white sand beaches. Leaving directly from the ferry terminal, we usually spend some time paddling around the islands and then explore the beaches for the rest of the day.
